Erica Martch - Gun Control
Because of the hazard of having exposed firearms around young children, I believe that all guns in family households should be kept out of reach and locked or in a locked case. By doing this, there will be fewer accidental deaths, not only by young children, but also by mentally unwell juveniles. Locked cases put one more precaution between the hands of a curious kid or suicidal minor and the trigger of a firearm. Young children are often curious and exploratory, leading them to be more susceptible to finding a hidden firearm. For this reason, they should be not only hidden, but also locked and completely out of reach. Minors should also be restricted by a lock to avoid any unwanted violence in the home. In order to ensure the safety of minors, it is best to keep all firearms with a trigger lock, in a locked case, or in a gun safe.
Elliot Morse - Chinese Uighur Camps
Since the late early 18th century there has been conflict between the Han Chinese and Muslim minorities. As of 1995 Anyone suspected of sympathizing or involving illegal religious activities would be detained without trial and all family members were brought to the police. Since 2016 the Chinese Authorities have been rounding up women, men, and children targeting Muslims from the Uighur, Kazakh, and Kyrgyz ethnic minorities. Uighur camps, referred to as reeducation camps by the Chinese government, are concentration camps run by the Chinese government in the western region of Xinjiang with the purpose of "ending extremist leanings in communism. The injustices that occur in these camps include forced labor, the forced study of Marxism, torture, and abuse. There are currently almost two million Muslims imprisoned in concentration camps.
In an attempt to resolve this conflict MEFE is going to double tariffs and threaten to revoke our position as China’s main trade partner unless the Chinese government liberates all of their concentration camps and provide the victims and their families with temporary living situations, food, and money. If China refuses we will cut trade with them completely and engage our troops. We believe as China’s number one source of income we will be able to heavily influence the country.

Finch Hufstedler - Equality Act
The Equality Act is a bill that was written to amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to explicitly prevent discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Directly from the H.R.5 from the 117th Congress it states, “This bill prohibits discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity in areas including public accommodations and facilities, education, federal funding, employment, housing, credit, and the jury system. Specifically, the bill defines and includes sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity among the prohibited categories of discrimination or segregation.” The Equality Act will add more to the Civil Rights Act adding protection for women and LGBTQ+ people. I believe that we should support the Equality Act and help it pass through the Senate to be written into law.
Marcia O'Brien - Human Trafficking
Internationally, only about .04% survivors of human trafficking cases are identified, meaning that most of the cases of human trafficking go undetected. I believe that the United States should require every school to run a background check for human trafficking on their employees before hiring them. This policy is going to help to have a better education system where kids will feel safer. Often times schools simply hires teachers or staff members without running human trafficking background checks. By doing that, it can cause problems with the type of staff members hired. However, if human trafficking background checks were run, it can create a healthier school environment and make the students feel safe knowing that the adults they are around most are safe
